Sharing Folders

Terminology Explained

  • Delegating user: The person whose mailbox or folder is being shared to someone else
  • Nominated user: The person who is given permission to access the Delegating User's mailbox or folder
  

How To
 
1. The Delegating user:
a. In their own Outlook client right-click on the username given in the folder view
b. Select "Folder permissions"
c. From the permissions tab search for the Nominated User's contact within the address list and select add
d. Set the ‘Folder visible’ property only, then pressing apply
e. Click to select the specific folder they would like to share
f. Right-click select "Properties"
g. Browse to Permissions
h. Select and add the Nominated User's contact from the address list
i. Click/tick "Owner" permissions appropriately

2. The Nominated user:
a. In their own Outlook client browse to File - Account Settings - Account settings
b. Double-click on their own user profile/email
c. Select "More Settings"
d. Select "Advanced"
e. Add the Delegating User's full email address and select OK
